Waking Night Support Workers

23.33 hrs per week (on average, worked over a rolling rota)

A night shift is usually from about 10pm – 8am

£11,773 per annum rising to £11,898 per annum on successful completion of training and probation period

We are looking for Waking Night Support Workers to work in our Supported Living Team covering waking night duties in the homes of people with learning disabilities who require round-the-clock support and care.

You will work an average of 23.33 hours per week on a 3-week rota basis. Rotas are normally set in advance but you will need to be flexible in order to meet the needs of the service.  Additional paid shifts covering for colleagues’ leave and sickness will be available.

You will usually be working alone but depending on the work situation you will have the back up of a sleep-in staff member on site or access to the on-call service should you require support.

You will provide direct support and care to people in their own homes, providing personal care, emotional support, monitoring and oversight and you will be required to attend to healthcare needs if people have medical conditions e.g. epilepsy. You will carry out Moving & Handling of people and you will administer medication. You will need to keep written records to a required standard. 

The needs of the people you support will be your priority but you will also carry out a range of practical household duties e.g. cleaning, laundry and safety checks.

Induction training in the range of aspects will be provided, including completing the ‘Care Certificate’ if you have not already done this.

We want people with the right attitude and values who will fit in to our team and enhance it even more.  You will preferably have experience of working in a social care setting and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the needs of this service user group. An NVQ Level 2 in Care is desirable and appointments will be subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure at the enhanced level.
