2018 marks 100 years since the First World War! There are a number of World War One commemorative events taking place to celebrate and mark this special 100 years anniversary.
Come and join the events to remember those who served. The events listed below will be taking place from September onwards till December. If you are interested in attending any of these events please make sure you have booked in advance (if required).

Look out for painted or knitted poppies at the Town Hall decorated by staff from Knowsley Place.

Late September Onwards
Look out for a number of lamp post poppies which will be secured around lamp posts around the Town Hall and down towards the Fusiliers Museum. Businesses, individuals, community groups and Councillors can buy a poppy to go up on a lamp post or a location choice in Bury. A Just Giving page will be set up for contributions to go towards The Royal British Legion.
Thursday 8th November 7:30pm - 9.30pm
Come and join The Manchester Festival of Remembrance at Manchester Airport. Book your free tickets to remember and celebrate those who served. The commemoration, music and marching can be watched from under the wings of Concorde. For further information and tickets follow the link;
Saturday 6th October - 13th December
The Fusilier Museum will be hosting a special exhibition 18 for 18. 18 for 18 tells the remarkable stories of the eighteen men that displayed the ultimate courage in the line of duty. The exhibition will see the Victoria Crosses awarded to the Lancashire Fusiliers during the Great War. For more information and ticket prices follow the link;
Tuesday 6th November 12pm
Radcliffe Market Hall will be hosting be a vintage afternoon tea party to commemorate the end of WW1.
Entertainment will be from veteran's sweetheart Sarah Dennis.

Bury Age UK will be hosting a minutes silence at the Lido at 12 noon.

Ainsworth Church & Community Hall will be hosting a Nostalgia evening commemorating the WW1 centenary. Enjoy the entertainment, quiz, pastry and pea supper and much more. Tickets cost £5. All proceeds go to The Christ Church Challenge Fund.
