Join our festival this May and celebrate different cultures from around the world!
We are learning about equality, diversity and inclusion and we want you to help us celebrate food, music and stories from around the world.
On any date in May you can:
- share lunch or tasting tables of different food
- talk about food you enjoy - at different times of the year - at different times in your faith or religion - because they are a family memory for you
- have music sessions or listening circles
- tell stories or talk about your memories
- do arts and crafts to make displays or costumes with flags or traditional dress
It's free to take part, you just need to buy food and anything else you need for your event.
Click here for a poster or share this page with friends using the buttons at the top left.
We want you to share your celebrations with everyone at Persona!
- tell us what you did and what people enjoyed about it
- take photos or video clips (with consent) of activities, crafts or food
send your stories to info@personasupport.org and see them on social media or in our next newsletter!
Easy read: What do equality, diversity and inclusion mean?
Equality means everyone gets the same rights and opportunities. Sometimes we need to treat people differently and give them extra support to give them the same rights and opportunities. This is called equity.
Diversity means knowing that every person has different experiences to us. Everyone:
-
believes different things
-
likes and dislikes different things
-
comes from different places
-
has different values. Values means what we think is important
-
sees themselves differently to how we see ourselves
These differences make Bury interesting. When we accept people's differences everyone feels welcome.
Inclusion means everyone has the right to be included, respected and appreciated.
