Live More with Bury Shared Lives

Bury Shared Lives are part of a new Greater Manchester dementia project, Live More, to support more people in Bury who are living with dementia and their families and carers.

Live More will run until May 2026. It aims to keep people connected to the things they love while also giving their families and carers a break. The project will help us to develop and evaluate day support and shape the future of flexible, person-centred dementia care in Bury.

We have now recruited all our carers to this project but we are still looking for people to offer short stay (sometimes called respite) or shared living (long term) across the Bury borough.

Our carers will

  • get training and support from our friendly team
  • be carefully matched with someone who shares your interests
  • have the final say in who you support and be able to withdraw if it isn't working for you
  • get benefits just for our Shared Lives carers

Our carers don't need

  • any caring experience
  • previous knowledge of dementia

they just need to share our values!

We are working with Shared Lives Plus and ARF (Accelerating Reform Fund) on this project.
