The King's Garden Party

Matthew was lucky enough to be invited to the first of the King’s garden parties at the beginning of May 2023. He was really surprised when he received his invite as it was actually the Mayoress of Whitefield who applied for him to attend after having met Matthew previously.

Matthew and Janet, his support worker, travelled down to London by train and stayed overnight in a hotel nearby Euston Train Station. They were able to explore the palace gardens which Matthew said were stunning and meet lots of different military people throughout the day.

Whilst at Buckingham Palace, they saw King Charles and Kate, Princess of Wales, from a distance.

After the event, Matthew and Janet went for a nice meal, stopped off at M&M World and then met up with his girlfriend, who lives in London.

Matthew says: “I wish I could do it all again.”
