A co-located service with Elmhurst short stay (older people’s).

Offering short stay provision to customers with a learning disability on either a planned or emergency basis.

Some examples of why people come to us could be:

  • Regular respite for carers/ families to have a break.
  • Temporary stay due to house renovations, awaiting equipment, homecare services to start.
  • Following time in hospital and there is a need for a period of recovery (convalescence).
  • Following urgent and/or unforeseen situations which require customers to vacate their own homes immediately or to keep them safe. (Emergency)
  • Holiday for their own benefit to have some fun.
  • Assessment before admission to another service.


We are a ‘home from home’ service and aim to promote and support our customers to maintain their independence as much as possible when they come in on a short stay. Some of the areas of the care/ support we offer include:

  • Personal care
  • Meals and Nutrition
  • Medication Management
  • Activities & Social Stimulation
  • Community activities geared to customers preferences
  • Ongoing monitoring and assessment of our customers
  • Advice, Information and Signposting to other professionals/ services
  • Liaison with other services like district nurses and social workers.
  • Skills building round self care, cooking, and other domestic tasks.
  • Support to attend day services
  • We can provide an assessment service for customers who are new to the service.


Facilities on site:

4x en-suite single rooms with fully accessible showers.

One assisted fully accessible Aqua Nova Spa bath with tracking hoist.

Food is provided by staff on site and you can be as involved in food preparation as you wish to be. All special diets can be catered for.

You can also access The Bistro at Elmhurst –  a family bistro open to the public between 8am-7pm, Mon-Sun which is located in the adjoining unit and their hair salon Hair by Michelle.

All our bedrooms incorporate assistive technology which can be tailored to your needs. We offer bed occupancy sensors epilepsy sensors and a monitoring system for night disturbance.

We also have our own transport which is used to access community activities.

We are situated close to the Whitefield tram station which offers easy access to both Bury and Manchester.

We support our customesr to make good use of all the community activities in our immediate area and further afield.
