Carys is a Care Assistant who works at our Elmhurst Short Stay service. Our Workforce Ambassador, Cathy Stimpson asked Carys to answer a few questions about what she thinks about her role in care...

What’s the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is caring for the people we support and keeping them safe. I love seeing them getting stronger and more independent. 

What’s the best thing that's happened this week/month?

Celebrating Sheila's 100th birthday with her, and seeing everyone including Sheila having a nice time.

What does your best day at work look like?

When people we support overcome challenges. One day last week a lady who had been unable to leave her bed for a long time started to walk again. Also, the Halloween celebrations were a fantastic time as all the staff and people we support really enjoyed themselves.

What do you wish people knew about your job?

I wish people knew how challenging my job is, and how it can affect my emotions.
