Elmhurst Short Stay

Elmhurst Short Stay is part of our older people's service and offers respite for reasons such as:

  • regular breaks for carers/families.
  • temporary stay due to house renovations, awaiting equipment, or for homecare services to start.
  • following time in hospital, where there is a need for a period of recovery, rehabilitation or convalescence (you may have heard the term IMC, which means intermediate care - scroll down for more information on this).
  • following urgent and/or unforeseen emergency situations which require people to vacate their own homes immediately or to keep them safe.
  • a holiday for your own benefit.

Intermediate care (IMC)

14 of our rooms offer intermediate care* or IMC, for short term rehabilitation after a hospital stay. Our team will work with you and with social workers, occupational therapists and other professionals to arrange any care packages, equipment or home alterations to get you home independently.
