Escape

Escape is a group of young adults aged 18-30 with mild to moderate learning and/or physical disabilities who are all on a journey, looking for the next step in life. 

It’s about meeting new friends, creating memories, learning new skills and of course, having lots of fun along the way.

The team at Escape will support you to develop a program of activities based on your needs and support you to make decisions about the next steps in your life.

Some of the activities that regularly take place at Escape are:

• Arts & crafts activities
• Health & lifestyle activities: Rebound Therapy, going to the gym, swimming, walking, movement to music, Wheels for All, toning table
• Multi sensory stimulation & relaxation
• Cookery skills for pleasure, home & personal development
• Developing relationships with the local community

Escape is in two locations. At the Bury Adult Learning Centre base we have two rooms which have a bright and bold feel, kitted out with equipment especially chosen for the service. At the Bury Leisure Centre base we have one multi purpose room which also incorporates a kitchen, projector and screen and an activity room.

Information for parents/carers

Escape will offer you peace of mind and some much needed time for you!

We do this by offering a service Monday - Friday 9.00am - 3.30pm.

We will assess your loved one's needs and provide a bespoke support plan with risk assessments in place where it's needed.

We can provide support in:

• Personal care, including supporting to go to the bathroom
• Support with meals and nutrition
• Support with medication 
• Positive behavioural support
• Safeguarding
• College and education support
• Information, advice and signposting to other services they might enjoy - college, volunteering and job opportunities
• Fully trained staff in line with CQC requirements
• We can also help you to access funding for a placement with us

Our facilities at both bases include:

Accessible toilets.

Changing room with tracking hoist and changing bed.

Information, advice and signposting.

At the Bury Adult Learning Centre Escape base there is also:

Use of the Adult Learning centre rooms, including a large teaching kitchen and extra activities.

Short stay on-street parking (pay & display).

Long stay parking pay and display within 200m of the base.

Disabled drop-off and pick up at the rear of the building.

At the Bury Leisure Centre Escape base there is also:

Changing room with tracking hoist and changing bed available in the swimming pool changing rooms.

Car parking in the leisure centre (pay & display) and disabled parking spaces.

Disabled parking and drop off at front of building.
