Jean was diagnosed with dementia in 2023 and has always been sporty, so she asked to access dance sessions with a Shared Lives carer to keep her active.
Every week, Jean and her carer, Sally, go to different dementia groups that offer dance activities and Sally loves seeing Jean light up. "She gets everyone dancing and makes sure no one feels left out" she adds.
Their bond has grown so strong and now Jean has the confidence to go out and make new friends on her own, something she struggled with before.
Sally's support also gives Jean's family peace of mind, knowing she's safe and well cared for when they can’t be there.
