Sean is on a year long skills placement at The Green Café. This is part of our Persona Employment Pathways service, which helps people we support learn new skills and get a job or voluntary role.
Why is Sean doing a placement at The Green Café?
To learn new skills to help him move into paid work.
What placement is Sean doing at The Green Café?
Sean is doing a skill placement where he is learning how to serve customers and manage the serving station.
What does managing the serving station involved?
This involves preparing the customers' orders and serving them.
How is Sean being taught to manage the serving station?
Beki, progressions lead for Persona Employment Pathways, introduced a bell system. When someone takes an order, the bell rings, followed by the words 'service please.'
How does the bell system help Sean?
The bell and spoken cue let Sean know that he is needed at the serving station. This helps him to understand what to do next.
How has Sean responded to the bell system?
Sean's natural enthusiasm is now matched by his speed, as he understands immediately what he needs to do; he repeats the words he's heard and heads straight to the serving station.
What progress has Sean made since starting his placement?
Each day, Sean is becoming quicker, more confident and more independent in completing tasks.
Has Sean received any recognition for her progress?
Yes! Sean has been awarded Star of the Month (which we used to call Volunteer of the Month). This award recognises his hard work and the progress he's made so far.
Well done Sean!
